SANDHURST
Hampshire
A small urban rear garden which had seen some neglect in recent years was the starting point for this project. The garden was split level with a small stone wall cutting across the garden making a raised area to the rear of the garden, which was over hung by the neighbouring trees. The brief was to create an upper area which needs little or no maintenance and is dog friendly whilst creating a lovely lawn and herbaceous border area in the lower section. The lawn was threadbare and needed replacing with new turf after some soil preparation and management. The look and feel was 'cottagey' near the house, with a new patio and brick edged lawn in a circle. The border were stocked with luscious planting to give all year round colour and texture. The upper area was to be pared right back with a slightly oriental feel with large boulders, a loose stone dry stream bed over looked by Acers and ornamental cherrie trees.
